Long Division Mental Arithmetic Strategy

I can't pretend that I created this strategy myself. My then nine year old, admitted she always calculates long division as short division, mentally. Her year 5 teacher admitted it was a very clever strategy, and they hadn't taught it at school. 

I explain this strategy with each of my year 5-6 students, who absolutely love it. Some can now complete the calculations mentally, whereas some still need paper and pen/pencil.
