The key to better health, both financial and physical, could involve a mathematical brain teaser.
Psychologists have found that those with higher numeracy skills tend to make better decisions that affect their physical wellbeing as well as their finances.
The research involved more than 4,500 subjects, who were tested on whether they had the mathematical ability required to flourish in life.
Correctly answering the question at the bottom of the page suggests that a person is among the most highly numerate members of society. About half of those with a college education gave the right answer.
Those able to solve these types of problems appeared to place more faith in numbers when making important decisions. They were less likely to be swayed by emotional stories, anecdotes and unsubstantiated claims. They also appeared to take a more active role in keeping themselves healthy.
